Many people continue to leave Ukraine, with over 14,000 arrivals to Hungary in one day

Fully 6,125 people crossed into Hungary directly from Ukraine on Sunday, while another 7,638 from Ukraine crossed from Romania, the national police headquarters (ORFK) said.

Police issued temporary residence permits valid for thirty days to 232 people, ORFK told MTI on Monday.

Holders of such permits must contact a local immigration office near their place of residence within thirty days to apply for permanent documents, it added.

Budapest police received 182 refugees, 71 children among them, arriving by train, ORFK said.

  1. So we have 14’000 Ukrainians arrive, yet only 232 people applied for a temporary residence permit? Then, a whopping 182 refugees actually turn up in Budapest?

Looking at the numbers – would appear most Ukrainians are moving on to the greater EU. We are just a stop on their journey.

Given the official messaging, it seems our Politicians would LOVE for the EU to “recognize Hungary’s contribution” – which is basically allowing them to come across the border and leave, again. #pleasesendmoremoney
